How to Retarget Website Visitors With Facebook Ads

Most people do not buy on the first visit. Retargeting brings them back. Here is how it works for a course.

Luke, marketing strategist at Beauty CEO Society

The vast majority of people who visit your sales page will not buy the first time. That is normal. Retargeting is how you gently bring them back, and it is usually the cheapest, most profitable advertising you can run.

What retargeting actually is

Retargeting shows ads to people who already interacted with you: visited your website, watched your videos, or engaged with your Instagram. They already know you, so they are far more likely to buy.

Set up tracking first

You need the Meta pixel installed on your website so it can build an audience of your visitors. Without tracking, there is no one to retarget. This is step one, before you spend a dollar.

Build your warm audiences

Inside Meta, create audiences from website visitors, video viewers and people who engaged with your profile. These are the people your retargeting ads will reach.

Remind them what they are missing

Your retargeting ads should answer hesitation: show a student win, restate the transformation, or address a common doubt. You are nudging a warm person over the line, not introducing yourself.

Why it works so well

Retargeting spends your budget on people most likely to convert, so the return is usually much higher than advertising to strangers. Get this running before you scale into cold audiences.

Cold traffic builds awareness. Retargeting collects the sales that awareness left on the table.
